Israeli-style Cabbage Salad

Cabbage Salad

Drop into any street food shop, especially the falafel corner eateries, and you will likely find the most divine cabbage salad to fill your pita. For some of us, the cabbage salad is the core reason for eating the chosen street food. This version is a healthy and perfect side dish for any meal, in pretty much any season.

Ingredients

½ cabbage shredded

1 medium garlic clove

½ lemon juice

3 tbsp olive oil

½ tsp salt

Optional turmeric, nigella seeds for decoration

Optional dried mint leaves

Directions

  1. In a large bowl mix the garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt until they are combined.

  2. Add the shredded cabbage to the bowl and toss to coat with the half of the dressing until it covers the cabbage.

  3. Let the salad sit at room temperature for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld or cover and refrigerate to allow the flavors to meld a little more and serve at later time. Add the rest of the dressing, if needed.
